Fact vs. Fiction: Vice Presidential Debate

Nation Divided It would seem, especially during the first Presidential Debate between President Obama and Mitt Romney, that facts are of little consequence, but the upcoming Vice Presidential debate may change that. In all honesty, the simple fact that Romney won the first debate because he "looked" good and was "energized" while lying his Mormon garments off sickens me to the very core. I have never seen a debate where such fodder was thrown and no cared. This is what we want in our Presidential debates? This is what we teach our children? Lying is ok as long as you do it with gusto and energetically? Morals mean nothing because the lying looked "good"? However, tonight may be different. This will be a night of Fact vs. Fiction, and even though I know Ryan will lie (Revenue Neutral, Takes to long to explain, Obama is stealing 716 Billion from Medicare and so on and so forth) he may not do so as much as Romney did, just to safe a little face (even though Romney won by LYING).

There are a few items I would be watching out for, and mostly from Biden. Will he the tame calm Biden or will he be the Biden of old? Right now, the Obama/Biden campaign NEEDS to the Biden of old to show up. The "wild" Biden will ask questions, call Ryan out and show that the Democrats can be just as scrappy, but without going down to their level. For Ryan, it is all about word play, we will hear phrases similar to Revenue Neutral and reword lies such as 'Romney and I believe that Abortion can be perceived as negative, yet pro-life due to the fact that Abortion is both wrong and understandable.' Ryan will contradict himself numerous times, and he will probably be praised for it.

The bottom line, I expect fully for Paul Ryan to win the debate. He has the momentum going into the debate, and, this is sad, the American people (including newscasters, pundits, "experts") do not care about actual facts or truths. Ryan is the younger, more vibrant of the two hotheads, and that seems to be all that matters in debates now. Will this make or break President Obama? It is hard to tell, usually VP debates are not that critical, however, the media seems to want to make something out of nothing, such as a Candidate lying constantly to the American public and declaring them the winner. Let me put this way, Biden could float onto the stage, and heal the sick and Ryan would still be declared the winner.

Regardless, the Vice Presidential debate will be interesting, if not tense. Biden may have a lot riding on his shoulders, but Ryan has everything to lose. Biden just has to be a bit more energized, which he can easily do. Ryan has to balance an array of lies, misinformation and PX90 induced enthusiasm. Those who are voting for President Obama, you do not need to get upset, Ryan will win the debate, but that doesn't mean anything come the second Presidential debate, that is where everything is put on the line.
